1. Background

Menstrual health and hygiene continue to be a neglected subject in many parts of India, especially
among underprivileged communities. The stigma, lack of awareness, and inadequate access to
sanitary products often lead to serious health issues, missed school or work days, and diminished
confidence among adolescent girls and women.

International Women’s Day, celebrated every year on 8th March, and provides a meaningful
opportunity to raise awareness, break taboos, and empower women through education and access to
menstrual hygiene products.

2. Objective

The primary objectives of the Pad Distribution & Menstrual Health Awareness Camp are:

  • To promote menstrual hygiene awareness among adolescent girls and women.
  • To distribute free sanitary pads to ensure access to safe and hygienic menstrual products.
  • To break the social stigma and silence around menstruation through open dialogue and education.
  • To empower women with knowledge about menstrual health, nutrition, hygiene practices, and
their rights to health and dignity.
  • To encourage community participation in building a supportive and stigma-free environment
    for girls and women.

3. Execution and Key Activities:

  • Menstrual Health Awareness Session led by health professionals or trained educators
  • Interactive Q&A session to address common myths and questions
  • Pad distribution
  • Demonstration on usage and disposal of sanitary products
  • Story-sharing or motivational talk by a community role model or health worker
  • Feedback collection from participants

4. Participation

  • Beneficiaries: 35-45 adolescent girls and women
  • Collaborations: NGO- PinkShe
