Rationale

At Suma Vidyalaya, an initiative of Suma Blessings Foundation, we are committed to creating a child-centered and inclusive learning environment guided by the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) model. As part of our ongoing mission to provide safe, dignified, and effective learning spaces for underserved children, we are focusing on equipping classrooms with essential school furniture, starting with classroom desks.

Currently, children from Pre-Primary to Grade 5 attend sessions seated on mats or bare floors due to a lack of seating infrastructure. This not only affects their posture and writing ability, but also impacts their focus, confidence, and sense of dignity.

By providing child-friendly, two-seater desks, we aim to improve classroom infrastructure India-wide, creating a structured and supportive learning environment. Why Desks Are Needed

• Physical Comfort & Posture: Children sit for long hours, and floor seating leads to discomfort and poor posture, especially during writing and group activities.
• Hygiene Concerns: Sitting on dusty floors poses health risks, especially in community-based and temporary learning spaces.
• Learning Efficiency: A proper seating arrangement supports concentration, writing, and classroom management.
• Dignity in Learning: A desk gives every child a sense of respect and ownership within the school environment.
• Optimized Use through Shifts: With 15 two-seater desks, we can accommodate 90 students daily through a 3-shift model (Pre-Primary, Grades 1–2, and Grades 3–5).
