Highlights

1. Objective

The activity aimed to help primary students strengthen basic numeracy, sequencing, and alphabet recognition through a fun, hands-on STEM session using a button-controlled bot and a chart of boxes labeled with alphabets.

2. Description of the Activity

A total of 35 students enthusiastically participated in this interactive learning experience.
The setup included a bot placed on a chart filled with alphabet-labeled boxes. The bot was equipped with movement buttons, and each button press advanced the bot by one box. The number of button presses determined how far the bot moved along the alphabet chart.

Students took turns pressing the buttons, predicting where the bot would stop, and identifying the alphabet or position it landed on. This playful mechanism helped merge physical activity with cognitive learning.

3. Learning Outcomes

1. Alphabet Recognition

  • Students strengthened their understanding of alphabets by identifying the letters where the bot stopped.
  • The activity reinforced alphabet sequencing and order.

2. Numeracy Skills

  • Children practiced counting button presses and relating them to the number of boxes moved.
  • This improved their ability to link numbers with quantity and order.

3. Logical Thinking & Prediction

  • Students predicted the bot’s landing position and understood cause-and-effect, seeing how each press resulted in movement.
  • They developed early analytical and reasoning abilities.

4. Introduction to Coding & Robotics Concepts

  • The activity provided a basic understanding of how commands lead to actions—an early form of programming logic.
  • It sparked curiosity and interest in robotics, coding, and technology-enabled learning.

5. Motor Skills & Coordination

  • Pressing buttons with control and following the bot’s movement improved fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination, and tracking ability.

6. Spatial Awareness & Directional Skills

  • Students learned concepts of direction (forward/backward), distance, and position, improving their spatial understanding.

7. Engagement, Enjoyment & Teamwork

  • All 35 students participated with excitement and curiosity.
  • The activity encouraged collaboration, turn-taking, communication, and celebrating peers’ success.
  • The interactive and playful environment made learning joyful and memorable.

4. Conclusion

The “Button-Controlled Bot and Alphabet Box Chart” activity effectively blended play-based learning with foundational STEM concepts.

Students enhanced their skills in alphabets, counting, logical thinking, direction, and sequencing while developing an early appreciation for robotics and problem-solving.

The enthusiastic participation of all students highlights the impact of this engaging and educational STEM experience at Suma Vidyalaya.
