In line with our mission to promote health, wellness, and education among young children, Suma Blessings Foundation conducted a Health Nutrition Support Program titled “Healthy Food, Healthy Me!” at MCD Primary Girls School, Krishna Vihar, Delhi.
The program was designed to educate Class 2 students on balanced nutrition, healthy eating habits, and hygiene practices in an engaging and interactive way. The session encouraged students to make informed choices about their food and understand how nutrition and hygiene contribute to overall well-being.
The 60-minute session was structured into four key activities:
The session began with an age-appropriate story highlighting the difference between healthy and unhealthy habits. Through relatable characters, the story emphasized how nutritious food leads to energy, strength, and focus, while junk food can leave children tired and unwell. This approach helped the students grasp the importance of healthy eating in a fun and relatable way.
Students were introduced to the basic food groups:
The discussion explained how a balanced diet including all three groups helps children grow strong and stay healthy.
To make the learning experience interactive, students participated in a creative activity where they drew healthy food items on a paper plate. This hands-on activity reinforced the concept of a balanced meal and helped children visualize the different components of nutritious eating.
At the end of the session, students took a simple pledge to eat fruits and vegetables daily, drink clean water, and practice good hygiene. This exercise reinforced the lessons learned and encouraged children to adopt healthy habits consistently.
Following the session, we interacted with Ms. Reema Garg, the class teacher, who shared that students were highly engaged and enthusiastic throughout the session. She appreciated the interactive and visual approach, noting that it helped children understand the importance of nutrition and hygiene effectively.
The school principal also expressed gratitude for the program and highlighted areas of immediate need. With winter approaching, many students lacked warm clothing, such as sweaters and shoes. The school invited Suma Blessings Foundation to return next month to conduct another session and provide further support.
The school has extended an invitation to continue our partnership through:
These initiatives align with our mission to empower young girls through education, awareness, and care.
The Health Nutrition Support Program at MCD Primary Girls School was a resounding success.
Students left the session with a clear understanding of balanced nutrition and healthy habits, while teachers appreciated the interactive, hands-on approach. This program not only educated but also inspired the children to make positive lifestyle choices.
Suma Blessings Foundation looks forward to continuing its engagement with the school, addressing their needs, and contributing to the long-term health and well-being of young students.
